Hibiscus, Flowers

Hibiscus tea is an herbal tea made by steeping the dried flowers, consumed both hot and cold. The tea has a somewhat tart cranberry-like flavor and color. Sweeten with sugar or honey.

Steep the dried flowers in white balsamic vinegar to create Hibiscus Flower Vinegar. Try it drizzled over fresh strawberries, melons, or peaches; splash over grilled asparagus or roasted beets and sprinkle with sea salt; add to diced mangoes, red onion, serrano chile, and cilantro for a fresh salsa; combine with nut oil for a dressing of greens, avocado, jicama, and citrus slices.
