Last month we began carrying hemp seeds. Hemp seeds are a nutritional powerhouse; packed with protein, essential fatty acids, omegas, amino acids, dietary fiber, iron, calcium and antioxidants. You can use them in cereal, salad, cookies, crackers, baking, smoothies, yogurt, hemp milk, bread, fruit salad and vegetables.
Here’s a fun (and healthy) recipe we found on the blog Skinnytaste.com using hemp seeds in a smoothie:
Mango Banana Superfood Green Smoothie

- 1 frozen banana
- 1 packed cup baby spinach
- 2/3 cup fresh mango, diced
- 2 tbsp raw hemp seeds, shelled
- 1 3/4 cups unsweetened almond milk
- 1 cup ice
- sweetener, to taste
Combine all the ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth, adjust sweetener to your taste.
